Admissions and Costs
We seek curious, driven students who want to explore how media shapes society and learn to create compelling, ethical content across today’s evolving communication platforms. To be considered for acceptance, you must:
- Complete at least 15 credits at Rutgers (or have at least 15 transfer credits to Rutgers) with at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
- Complete the following courses:
- 01:355:101 College Writing or 01:355:104 College Writing Extended, or an equivalent course, with a grade of C or better.
- 04:189:102 Introduction to Media with a grade of C or better.
If you are a prospective freshman or a prospective transfer student, you must first apply to Rutgers through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

How to Declare a SC&I Minor
SC&I offers three minors:
After you’ve completed the minor course requirements with a grade of C or better and confirmed the specific requirements for your academic program, you may declare the minor.
Students of other Rutgers colleges (Business, Engineering, Mason Gross, Nursing, etc.) use the DCIM Minor Declaration Form and submit it to the Office of Student Services.
