Biography
Steve Miller is the director of undergraduate studies and internship coordinator. His primary focus is on teaching students about the importance and impact of broadcast journalism and the role they can play in media. Through his work in the classroom and as an advisor, he stresses the connection between what they learn on campus and how they can apply it after they graduate. He believes that students are the backbone of Rutgers and their education and preparation for the real world is the primary focus of the department, the school, and the university.
Miller was selected as winner of the 2023 Chancellor-Provost Teaching Excellence Award at the University Level and the 2025 Department of Journalism and Media Studies Teaching Award. In 2019, he was inducted into the Loyal Sons and Daughters of Rutgers in recognition of the contributions he has made to his alma mater.
Miller hopes to continue sharing his knowledge with his students and preparing them for careers after they graduate. He is also working on adapting the department to currriculum to an ever-changing journalism and media environment. Along these lines, he is working to expand what the department offers to its students and increasing outreach throughout the university and to the community at large.
