Our faculty combine academic expertise with real-world experience to help you navigate the unique communication challenges in healthcare. You'll develop the skills to create effective health communication strategies, collaborate with healthcare professionals, and support health interventions. From designing, implementing, and evaluating public health campaigns to tackling real-world issues in health communication and literacy, our faculty seamlessly blend fundamental theory with hands-on application to prepare you for success.
Career opportunities exist in for-profit and nonprofit agencies, including government, hospitals, health departments, schools, and other industries. You could also further your education with an advanced degree in communication, health education, sociology, or nutrition science.
This specialization provides you with a strong foundation in theoretical knowledge, both theory and practical skills, preparing you to enter fields related to roles in:
Customize your Health and Wellness Communication specialization by selecting courses that align with your interests and career goals.
This specialization requires a total of six courses (18 credits). If you’re using this specialization to fulfill the Communication major’s degree requirements, at least 6 credits must be at the 400 level. To expand your career options, you can combine the Health and Wellness specialization with other specializations as long as you satisfy all the requirements. Consider these combinations and possible career paths.
As part of the COM program, all Health and Wellness Communication students are required to select at least three courses and may take up to six.
Students may select up to a maximum of three courses.
