Biography

Brian Householder oversees curriculum development, course scheduling, and undergraduate advising for the Communication major. He regularly teaches Introduction to Communication (COM 101) and has also taught courses in interpersonal communication, exploring leadership, research methods and persuasion. 

His teaching focuses on helping students build strong theoretical foundations and applied communication skills across formats. His research interests include persuasive message design, instructional communication, communication pedagogy, and relational communication.

Householder serves as a university senator, representing faculty governance interests at the institutional level. Additionally, he is a faculty mentor to the Rutgers women’s golf and rowing teams. He was honored by the Hindu Students Council and the Communication department for excellence in teaching. He is currently working on a new edited textbook for the public speaking course.
