From Classroom to Industry Insight: Mark Beal and Nick Linardopoulos Earn Promotions
Two esteemed faculty members in the SC&I Communication Department, Mark Beal and Nikolaos (Nick) Linardopoulos, have received promotions, effective July 1, 2026.
Beal's research focus is on Generation Z as consumers and as employees. Linardopoulos' research interests include instructional technology and online learning.

Mark Beal's teaching leverages his thirty years in public relations and marketing. He teaches 300-, 400-, and graduate-level courses with a focus on integrated marketing communication and prioritizes experiential learning, including campaign development and activation.
Beal has received the Department of Communication Distinguished Achievement in Service and Distinguished Achievement in Teaching. He has also been named the Most Valuable Professor by the Rutgers golf and soccer teams. Beal has authored and co-authored five books with a focus on Generation Z, and five books with a focus on careers and the workplace.
Beal's most recent book, "Pursue Your Passions! Dream Big! Anything is Possible!" was published on April 20, 2026. In the past few years, Beal co-authored "Conquering Job Transition, Win The Job & Thrive In A Multigenerational Workplace" and authored "ZEO, Introducing Gen Z - The New Generation Of Leaders." Beal's books have led to a recent TEDx Talk. He will continue to pursue keynote speeches with a focus on Gen Z as consumers and employees. Beal's recent speeches include the Big Ten Academic Alliance and the Rutgers University Board of Trustees.
Beal also serves as a faculty advisor to Scarlet PR and the Rutgers Chapter of the PRSSA, a faculty mentor to the Rutgers Women's Tennis Team, and a lecturer for the Rutgers Global Sports Business graduate program.

Promoted to Teaching Professor of Communication and Public Speaking Course Coordinator
As a faculty member in the Department of Communication, Nick Linardopoulos has developed and taught multiple courses focusing on public communication, including crisis communication, political communication, and public speaking. Linardopoulos also teaches the large-lecture introductory communication course (COM 101) every semester.
As a certified instructional designer from the Online Learning Consortium, a Canvas Certified Educator, and a Master Reviewer from Quality Matters, Linardopoulos has led the efforts for expanding the course delivery options within the department and SC&I to include HyFlex, hybrid, and online formats.
Linardopoulos' teaching has been recognized through the Communication Department’s Distinguished Achievement in Teaching Award (2018, 2024) as well as the Excellence Award for Best Practices in Hybrid Course Delivery from Rutgers University (2012).
In addition to teaching, Linardopoulos oversees the management of all Public Speaking course sections at SC&I (including assessment, scheduling, professional development, and mentoring).
