Rutgers iSchool LIS Faculty Member Co-Organizes International LIDA Conference
The Rutgers iSchool Department of Library and Information Science is a sponsor of the 2027 Libraries and Information Institutions in the Digital Age (LIDA) conference, taking place May 19–21, 2027, in Šibenik, Croatia. Professor Marija Dalbello is serving as a conference co-director alongside Dr. Martina Dragija Ivanović of the University of Zadar and Dr. Kornelija Petr Balog of the University of Osijek, both in Croatia.
LIDA is an international biennial conference that brings together researchers, educators, students, practitioners, and developers from around the world to explore the changing role of libraries and information institutions in the digital age. Organized since 2000, the conference provides an international forum for scholars and practitioners to discuss emerging issues and developments in library and information science.
“We hope to assemble an international group of scholars and practitioners to reflect on the LIDA 2027 themes and gather new insights for our research and practice,” said Dalbello.
LIDA 2027 Themes
The 2027 conference will focus on two themes: Artificial Intelligence and Ethical Institutional Response and Emotion and Creativity. Sessions will examine how artificial intelligence is transforming memory institutions and creating new opportunities and challenges for libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural heritage organizations.
The conference represents a longstanding international collaboration involving Rutgers iSchool and information science programs in Croatia.
