Admissions, Degree Requirements, and Deadlines
Admissions Requirements
Before you can apply to the IT & Informatics major, you must first meet these requirements:
- Complete at least 15 credits, including courses at Rutgers and/or accepted transfer credits.
- Applicants must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA to apply to the major; the average cumulative GPA of successful applicants is 3.1.
- Complete College Writing (01:355:101), College Writing Extended (01:355:104), or an equivalent course with a grade of C or better.
- Complete the introductory IT & Informatics major course 04:189:103 Information Technology and Informatics with a grade of C or better.
Degree Requirements
The IT & Informatics major requires 39 credits total, including foundational courses, electives, and a communication or media course.

IT & Informatics students have many options for minors offered at the School of Arts and Sciences. In addition to the SAS options, the school offers three minors:
