Biography

For most of their professional career, Dione Surdez has led digital asset, digital archives, and digital library efforts as a world builder, senior researcher, digital archivist and librarian, and digital asset manager. Surdez understands the nuances experienced at the intersection of library and information science and digital asset management, as well as the specialized skillset brought to digital asset management by professional archivists and librarians. 

Their background in digital asset management is complemented by experience in a variety of gallery, library, archive, museum, creative, and virtual environments. Surdez was invited to publish articles with Henry Stewart Publications' Journal of Digital Media Management, where they explore the use of digital asset management in public libraries and virtual museum exhibits. Surdez is also faculty for the MMLIS program at USC Bovard College, as well as a technical services librarian in the role of Project Manager - Digital Projects for LA County Library.

Surdez holds a Master of Management in Library and Information Science from the Gordon S. Marshall School of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Dana and David Dornsife College, both of the University of Southern California. Surdez holds a Professional Certificate in Rare Books and Manuscripts from the California Rare Book School at the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies. They attained an Advanced Certificate in Digital Asset Management from Rutgers University and have taught several CPS courses, including Evolving World of Digital Asset Management.
