Biography
Sharon Stoerger's research areas of interest include assessment of learning in higher education, management in information organizations, and educational uses of social technologies including artificial intelligence. Her interdisciplinary work bridges education, technology, and organizational management in global contexts. She has presented her work at national and international conferences such as the AAC&U Institute on AI, Pedagogy, and the Curriculum, the Assessment Institute (Berlin and Bangkok), eLearning Forum Asia, and Online Educa Berlin.
She has also written several articles and book chapters on the educational uses of social media, virtual worlds, and other emerging technologies, including "AI and the Future of Pedagogy and Assessment in Higher Education" in Assessment Update, "Writing Without Words: Designing for a Visual Learning Experience" In Informed Librarian Online, and "Using Video to Foster Presence in an Online Course" In Enhancing instruction with Visual Media: Utilizing Video and Lecture Capture.
Stoerger is committed to creating inclusive and engaging learning environments for students in all modes of course delivery. She earned the Service Excellence Award by SC&I in 2020 as well as the Distinguished Achievement in Service Award by the Department of Library and Information Science in both 2013 and 2016.
