Today, artificial intelligence is transforming that environment at unprecedented speed. AI systems can generate content, analyze sentiment, identify emerging narratives, personalize messages, and automate communications with remarkable efficiency.

Interviews with business owners in Newark, Trenton, and New Brunswick show survival ran through loyal customers, neighboring businesses, and community and faith-based groups—while the government agencies and major media assumed to lead in a crisis were largely absent from owners' accounts.
