Biography

Le Anne Barclay-Platenburg is an assistant teaching professor in the Information Technology and Informatics program. She attained a doctoral degree in management information systems from the School of Management at Walden University. She also earned key industry certifications, namely, CRISC, and CDPSE. Her professional background includes more than 35 years in IT risk management, audit, compliance, and governance. Working in both consulting, and non-consulting roles, across various industries, she has abetted organizations achieve and maintain regulatory and compliance standards, develop and implement policies and procedures, frameworks, and effective internal controls, and mitigate IT, ethical, privacy, and cyber risks. Barclay-Platenburg teaches courses in information privacy and social informatics. 

Barclay-Platenburg is an active member of several advisory boards, working groups, and professional associations. Her professional interests lie in GRC, cybersecurity, privacy, and AI risks and governance. She was honored in 2025 with the Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching from the Department of Library and Information Sciences of Rutgers University. She recently developed an Information Privacy course which is now included in the Information Technology and Informatics curriculum. 

Her future aspirations is to continue developing courses for the program which may enhance the curriculum, and prepare students for post graduation opportunities. Barclay-Platenburg recently accepted the role as an advisory board member for the newly formed Faculty Career Fellows (FCF) program at Rutgers University. The program's objective is to provide four cohorts of full-time faculty the opportunity to learn and engage in incorporating career development and professional readiness skills into their academic content.
