Biography

Yingchun Xu’s research interests lie in media and minority culture studies, as well as algorithmic culture. Her doctoral dissertation employs mixed methodologies, including qualitative research and digital ethnography, to explore the cultural revival of Indigenous communities through the use of social media. Her work focuses on the dynamic interplay between algorithmic culture and user engagement, examining how algorithms shape the social world in people's daily lives and enable new forms of cultural expression and identity.
