Biography
Juliana Mestre researches within the philosophy of information and is specifically interested in using post-structuralist perspectives to deconstruct and reconstruct foundational structuralist assumptions in library and information science. Her dissertation, A Post-Structuralist Approach to Informational Being, Knowing, and Caring, primarily places Jacques Derrida in conversation with Luciano Floridi to build a new theory in information ontology, information epistemology, and information ethics. Mestre is also passionate about sharing her interests in library and information science and in the philosophy of information with her students. While a Ph.D. candidate at Rutgers, she has served as the instructor of record for eight sections of the undergraduate course, The Structure of Information, teaching over three hundred students. She is scheduled to teach four additional sections of this course this academic year (2025-2026).
