Biography
Dafna Lemish studies the role of media in children’s lives from global, interdisciplinary, and multi-method perspectives. She is particularly interested in gender representations and the role of media in the formation of gender identities. In recent years, she has leveraged her experience as an academic immigrant and explored the challenges experienced and benefits offered by this unique group of academics.
She is an award-winning prolific author and editor of numerous books, journal articles, and book chapters, the founding editor of the Journal of Children and Media, and a fellow of the International Communication Association (ICA). She participated in various cross-cultural projects and traveled the world to share knowledge. She serves on multiple editorial and advisory boards. She is also proud of her various administrative roles and her ability to help facilitate the development of programs, the careers of other scholars, and the growth of her students.
After over 20 years of serving in academic administrative roles in three different institutions in two countries (chair, dean, associate dean, and interim dean), Lemish is looking forward to wrapping up research collaborations, including in the study of primary and secondary forms of mediation of children’s media.
