Kathy Dunn, MS, RN, CRRN, CNS, has worked in spinal cord injury nursing since 1976, both in the VA system and private sector. She has her master’s degree in rehabilitation nursing from Rush University. She is currently the clinical nurse specialist and rehabilitation case manager at a VA SCI center. She is a published author and teaches extensively for both lay and professional groups, including guest lecturing for both local and Brazilian schools of nursing on SCI nursing care. She is a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, and the American Spinal Injury Association, and an honorary life member of Paralyzed Veterans of America. She serves on the steering committee for the Consortium for Spinal Cord Medicine representing ARN. She was selected to be Clinical Nurse Specialist of the Year for 2003 by the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS), was admitted to the SCI Hall of Fame by the National Spinal Cord Injury Association in 2008 in the SCI Educator category, and received the VA Secretary’s Award for Excellence (RN-Expanded Role) in 2012.

Cissi Wimberly Oloomi MSN, RN, CNS, FNP, CNRN, CRRN has over 30 years in various settings of the specialty of neuroscience and rehabilitation nursing, including acute & chronic care of the SCI patient. She received her master’s degree as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and a post-graduate certificate as a family practice Nurse Practitioner from Texas Women’s University, Houston. She currently works as a SCI service line Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Practitioner at a VA Spinal Cord Injury Center. She has certification in rehabilitation nursing (CRRN) and neuroscience nursing (CNRN). She is a member of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN), Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) and the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals. She is a published author & also a co-editor of chapters in the neuroscience nursing core curriculum. She has presented numerous times at the national and local levels on various neuroscience topics.

Cyndy Fine, MSN, CRRN has been a rehabilitation nurse since her graduation from Georgetown University in 1975 and has worked predominantly with individuals who have become spinal cord injured since then. She received her Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Nursing in 1980 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her career has taken her to many different positions at several Model System SCI Centers in Chicago and Philadelphia. She has been the Director of Rehab Services at a large hospital affiliated rehabilitation unit in Pennsylvania as well as the Nurse Executive at a pediatric rehabilitation hospital in NJ. Her current position is the Clinical Coordinator for the Early Mobilization Program in the ICUs at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. This position has allowed her to build a rehab team in the ICU settings. Her many professional activities include teaching at a local, regional and national level on the many aspects of neurological rehabilitation nursing and rehabilitation in the Intensive Care Setting. Her special interests in the area of spinal cord injury include sexuality and sexual functioning, understanding the neurologic processes that occur with spinal cord injury and issues of aging with a spinal cord injury.

Patricia Reisinger, MS, CRRN, FNP, GNP has been a nurse practitioner in the SCI/D outpatient clinic in the VA Medical System since 2000 and has worked as a nurse since 1981. She is a member of Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, American Nurses Association, and Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association. She is a certified family and geriatric nurse practitioner and rehabilitation nurse. She received her Bachelor's in Nursing from Marycrest College in 1981; Masters in Nursing from University of Colorado in 1986 in pediatrics; and Post-Masters certificate from the University of Wyoming as a family nurse practitioner in 2000. She received the Expanded Role Award for Nursing Excellence in SCI Nursing - presented September 24, 2010 at the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals Annual Meeting. She has a special interest in ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s disease) and is a board member of the ALS Association Rocky Mountain chapter.
