You must have banged yourself on something doing a transfer. I would keep an eye on it, but the fact that there is no break in the skin probably means it is just a bruise and will go from black to that weird purple and then purple-green as it heals. I try to be careful, but I am use to finding bruises that I have no idea how I got, and they have always been fine as long as there is no skin break.

Are you taking any anticoagulants (blood thinners)?
Keep pressure over it and limit your sitting. Pressure on top of a bad bruise can quickly turn into a pressure ulcer. Don't put anything on the skin if it is still intact. (KLD) |

I echo KLD's advice. Try to stay off of it until it goes away. That means limit your sitting and lying on your back. Make sure that when you sit, you do plenty of weight shifts. And try to keep the area clean and dry.
Watch it carefully to make sure that it doesn't get worse or open up. CKF |
