Thanks Matt and KLD. Skippy, no vet should ever be alone and in pain. I hope besides dealing with the pain issues you get hooked up with some vet group nearby when you get back.

As far as the economy, please anyone who gets a cut in benefits or whatever please post or PM someone on CC and see if there are work arounds.

I have unstuck this thread from the top of the Life Forum for several reasons. First, if there is continued interest in the subject, it will of course continue to float to the top. Second, I am concerned by the increasing and repeated expressions of suicidal ideation by members on carecure and that this thread may be encouraging this. Third, the moderators are discussing steps to take when such ideation is expressed. When we have decided, we will make these steps known. Fourth, at the present, CareCure moderators do not have the training, resources, or facilities to do suicide prevention effectively. We can call for help but we need to establish a system and criteria for doing so. So, until we get there, I am unsticking this thread from the top of the Life Forum.

Wise.

We are not ignoring it. Please stay tuned to a new sticky of resources for those who have lost hope. This current one has outlived its usefulness and become a magnet for suicidal ideation...as well as those who encourage others to suicide.

KLD... "We are (CCC)... and everything else needed to MAINTAIN the spinal injured person in top health"....
This is the mantra on the opening page. Everything "else" needed in my opinion includes mental health. Honest not a attack on you or your posts. I respect you.
Perhaps a forum for DEPRESSION could be considered soon. I love this site it keeps me semicomforted as a caregiver.

On the Norwegian forum I write, it is forbidden by the psychiatrist to talk about suicide. Those threads get deleted. It has a domino effect, I have been there for 10 years and on the psyc forum people are doing it in groups. It was even in the newspaper because two girls did jump over a bridge together and died. It did happen before a couple of times too, but since the writing in the newspaper it has been forbidden.

Having just recently spent 6 hours in one day trying to track down and get care & help for someone on this forum who was threatening suicide, I don't think I need to justify myself to anyone here.

I have never in my 11+ years of moderation here, and never will, discourage anyone from posting about their feelings and asking for help here. You people are over-reacting to this situation. You have no idea the number of inappropriate posts that have been removed.

Wait to see what is going to be posted instead. If you don't like my moderation, take it up with Dr. Young. I'm done here.

Why jump to the conclusion that CC is being whitewashed of valuable resources for those considering suicide? I do recall some suicide rah-rah in here, actually. The recent "Do it on your own terms, die with dignity" was not the only one. I've also seen some "You're an asshole; I'd help you but you're not worth the bullet" type things. Not helpful.

I imagine KLD and Wise have a plan. Why not see it before we criticize it?

If it is a huge deal, and this thread is a comfort to someone...bump it up daily.

I've noticed the successful suicides don't post here last. If they did for a while before, this thread didn't help.

It is goodto have the hotlines be a sticky, and discussion is good also. I think the resources get overlooked in the ongoing discussion though.

And it needs a name like "Help for the Suicidal" or something.

For what it's worth, I agree with the concerns that Wise and KLD have with this thread, and trust them to come up with a policy that will address the needs of the people in need of assistance.

Thank you for being here for us.
