A innovative umbrella design

My God in Heaven, someone has actually improved the umbrella. I’ve been complaining about the lack of innovation in umbrella design for some time now.

Feast your eyes upon Nubrella, which sorta combines the words “new” and “umbrella” into one easy-to-remember brand identity. For $60 you can look like a complete tool, but, but!, you’ll be protected from the elements like never before. It guarantees to protect your pretty face from wind, rain, ice, snow, badgers and more.

You don’t hold the Nubrella like you do regular umbrellas, that would be stupid. Instead, you sorta wear it, as this charming man so ably demonstrates.

at first i laughed at this. then, i thought, wouldnt that be great if they made it large enough to cover a wheelchair??? no more arm troughs filled with water. no getting inside and having to head off to the restroom to dry off the chair. of course, the dork factor would probably keep me from using it, yet it would be a good protector if they made it large enough to just fit over the arm rests. my trough arm rests turn into mini swimming pools in a down pour and it sure would be nice not to have that problem. i just dont think i could get past that space alien look though!

thanks for sharing!

Saw this on the Shark tank tonight.

nubrella

The hands free aspect to let you wheel in the rain looks cool and plausible
anyone try it yet?

That thing reminds me of the dome umbrellas they used to have (was that the name?). See through, and shaped like half of a globe. Worked great actually.

An elongated version would also keep your lap feet & legs from getting soaked!
I notice that Nubrella's web site shows someone in a powerchair wearing one.

I believe that:
  1. If you are in a wheelchair and it is raining, you will get wet. Either trying to open, close, or catch your umbrella.
  2. The best umbrella is one that is too cheap to steal or chase if it gets away.
  3. A waterproof, wheelchair hooded poncho will keep you dry if you have 15 - 30 mins to put it on and take it off. I've had one for 30 years and never used it.
