Bridget-
I haven't had Lasik myself & I'm not familiar with Intacs. I do however have a number of friends who have had Lasik done & they have nothing but praise for it. I hope others can give you first hand info & opinions on them.

I had Lasik a couple of years ago, and my husband had it about a year before that. We both LOVE it. Fast, easy, no pain (discomfort, but not pain), quick recovery (take a nap...) DONE.

Completely agree with BeeBee. Had it a yr ago. Went home, slept a few hrs..done. Do note that not everyone is the same! I know a few that had some minor irritation for a week or two. Don't know anyone where the procedure failed.

Both procedures have successfully helped people improve vision as an alternative to glasses and contacts.

I know several people who have had Lasik, which is more common and getting more press. People who have success with this, love it.

Intac is much lesser known and unlike Lasik, works without laser. It requires a surgeon place two tiny clear crescent-shaped
plastic polymer pieces into the cornea. They are intended for long-term vision correction but if patients are not satisfied or troubled by symptoms, they can be surgically removed.
The removal capabilities seem to be touted as their advantage over lasik.

I don't know of anyone ever having intac done.
Do any of you have any experience with this procedure? It would be great to get any personal information on this.

I had the laser surgery about 5 years ago. It was very simple and i have still got 20/20 vision. My mom had the lasik with the knife cuts and had a few problems. Thats why i went with the laser procedure

My sister had Lasik on both her eyes. One came out okay, but the other eye was screwed up (too much tissue was lasered away, or something.)

So, as long as I have someone to put them in and take them out, I'm sticking with my contacts.

The majority of people that have had Lasik eye surgery will tell you that it works and they haven't had any problems, but there are a lot of people out there that have had problems with their surgery. Statistically speaking, you will probably make it out okay, but I'm personally not willing to take that risk.Hopefully in a few years the technology will improve and the failure rate will decrease.

I did lasik last year and I regret not doing it years ago. Mine took me 60 seconds per eye. I had my lasik done at 8:00 in the morning, went home to take a nap by 9:00 woke up at 12:00 and went to work from 1:00 till 4:00 in the afternoon with no problems. one thing, you'll have a burning feeling in your eye like the feeling of opining them in salt water. that's the only discomfort.

thanks for the resposes i have to think a lot more about this. i would really prefer contacts, but when i went to an exam about three years ago, the doc refused to give me a presription until I put them in MYSELF im a quad so it would take a lot of practice; i can't just throw them in anymore in a few seconds. that exam made me feel like crap and since then i've called around and they've all said i need to be able to put them in myself or no script
