A few questions about my new laptop
I just bought a refurbished laptop that came with Windows Vista home edition. I would like to downgrade to Windows XP Home/Professional Edition so I can install my Dragon NaturallySpeaking 8.0. Is this downgrade possible? Or should I just buy Dragon 9.5? After doing some reading and playing around with Windows Vista, I'm not so sure it's for me. The laptop has 2GB RAM, 1.73GHz as well as a 32-bit OS which would support Dragon 9.5 from what I gather? If this downgrade is possible, basically all I would need is the new Windows XP home/professional with SP2, put in the disk, then follow the onscreen orders for installation?

I am currently using Dragon 9.5 on Windows XP and Vista Home Premium. I don't really have any issues/problems at this time to speak of with either XP or Vista. I would think the upgrade to Dragon 9.5 Preferred or Professional will cost more than the downgrade to Windows XP Home.

thanks for your time and advice. Now, if I decide to buy the Windows XP home SP2 package, is this a simple task to downgrade? Just put in the disk and follow the onscreen instructions? Are you running Windows XP and Vista on the same PC, if this is possible? I'm computer illiterate as you probably can tell, lol. |

Thanks Jerry and PN,
there was some great information on the links, I will be hanging on to that information for possible future use. Right now I think I'm going to go ahead and do what PN suggested, run the Vista for now and try the built in voice-recognition. I have it, so why not try it. I'll keep you guys posted. Both of your help is greatly appreciated. Hopefully I'll be back with some good news. Thanks again |
