I walked at a Project Walk Event

I got to participate in an annual Project Walk event, - 2007 Steps to recovery -in Carlsbad CA on Saturday. I have only been up in a walker taking steps about 5 times, and I've only been a client at PW (Project Walk) since July.

It was inspiring to see so many people there as well as so many levels of SCI and different levels of walking. I flew from Portland because I have so many family and friends there and they celebrated with me. It still takes 3 trainers assisting and a walker, but I'm on my way and very encouraged with my progress at PW.

And guess what?? I made the local paper!
They gave us great coverage.

Thanks for the encouragement! The enthusiasm and encouragement there was overwhelming and I have to say how much the trainers poured their all into promoting and supporting their clients. We had a group walk around their large builing outside on the pavement and one of the trainers crawled next to a walker, every step, helping direct their feet. Amazing.
I still need 3 people helping me lock my knees and keep the walker moving, but am still getting stronger.

Riann, if you have ?? after reading through the PW threads from a search, ask away. It is expensive, but if there's any way I highly recommend it as a place to help push you and discover all you can do.
