Bike Wheels for Quickie Shark Handcycle
Will standard carbon fibre bike wheels fit a Quickie Shark with quick release axels?
Should be getting my handcycle soon and was looking at getting rear tri-spoke carbon fibre wheels but the ones I've seen for 'Wheelchair/Handcycle' use are really expensive and standard bike ones are much cheaper. Cheers Chris |

I think (someone else probably knows) that a 650 rear bike wheel could be used to replace a front handcycle wheel. The hancycle's rear wheels have different hubs than a bike's front wheel, so that would create a problem.
I have thought about this myself as there are MANY more options for bikes. I know bike-on.com makes custom wheels, so they could probably replicate any standard cycling wheel for handcycling. |

Thank you for the info, what I'll do is wait till my new bike arrives and take it to the local bike shop and see if they have any wheels that fit the quick release axel. I'm not too fussed about the front wheel as I know if I change it for a carbon fibre one my braking won't be as good.
