new sudafed ingredient Phenylephrine reduces urine output
weird how sometimes the absence of something make one realize that a med side effect is helping something . i dont know if it is a good side effect , but that is for another day
i have been battling bladder problems mainly due to impaction problems, i got the impaction under control and still was having strong urges to pee every 45 minutes, had to go at every 1 hour, my retention was only about 125 most times, i was peeing about 200ml. so th eurge to go was a bit early and i needed to found out what was causing it, coffee defiantly dose add to it, different coffees react differently, even though my home french press coffee is pretty strong , dunking donuts coffee really affects my bladder worse, probably more caffeine due to brewing method. cranberry juice also may have caused bladder irritation. i was drinking straight cranberry juice, and quite a bit too. a prego women site mentioned that cranberry juice can irritate the bladder. ultram/tramodal also may have a side effect of causing the feeling to pee , they call it micturate . that may have added a bit to it also. i had 2 known bladder irritants and a med side effect that also would add to the problem. to top it off my bladder doctor was telling me to drink less water and my bowel doctor was telling me to drink more water.quick forward to today, i realize that ihadnt had the urge to pee since i left the train station at 3pm ind it was 630 and i still dint need to go, i had an espresso . diet coke too , both irritants. i realized i took sudafed today in the afternoon , it has phenylephrine which is labled this side effects.= Renal: Decreased renal perfusion, reduced urine output.

It does not reduce urinary output, but may reduce leakage. It does not reduce the amount of urine you produce. It increases the sympathetic tone of the internal bladder neck, increasing retention. This is why these meds should not be take at all by those who use reflex voiding as them bladder management method, as they can stop your voiding.
These meds can also cause AD, and trigger high blood pressure in those who already have hypertension. I would not recommend use without consulting with your SCI physician or urologist. (KLD) |

kld i realize it shouldnt , a guess at my low dose and my good health i wouldnt have adverse effects
Adverse Reactions Frequency not defined. Renal: Decreased renal perfusion, reduced urine output http://www.merck.com/mmpe/lexicomp/phenylephrine.html this is moot since i have the old formula sudafed. i only took 2 every 6 hours well withing the prescribed dosage, my ear tube has been clogged for too long and this helps it a bit. something definitely changed my urine output and this is th only thing i can think of that changed, when i realized i haven't had the urge to pee in 3 hours it was a revelation. maybe it was coincidentalor something i have overlooked. i remember when i thought creatine increased my pain , but never dawned on me that i only consume creatine when i go to gym.. duh i realize now what i do in gym can increases my pain
