Starting a non-profit organization

Me and a buddy are going to start a non profit organization and we would like to know if anyone had any suggestions for us. Here's our thoughts:

Association, Fund, or Foundation? Name ideas needed.
Classified as 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Exemption. Donations written off as deductions.
ŸA non-profit organization created to be a conduit for donations and fundraising, giving out ‘Quality of Life’ grants to help the newly injured become a functional part of society again.
ŸThe organization will consist of a Board of Directors, fundraisers, and Community Representatives to inform the public and represent our Foundation.
ŸThe foundation will have an annual or bi-annual (twice a year) fundraising dinner to pull in private (hopefully tax-exempt) donations.
ŸThrough our Community Representatives the organization will find benefactors in need of financial help. We will also use members’ vast knowledge of local companies and groups to provide newly-injured/-discharged people with necessities.
ŸThis organization will need a headquarters, where people can visit, donate, and apply for grants year-round.
ŸOur fundraisers will organize and plan the events, and also lobby local (and national) organizations to donate.
ŸCertain positions within the organization will not be needed year-round, allowing time for jobs and family, etc.
ŸThe organization may maintain a small staff all year, which would require financial support (salaries). This will not effect the 501(c) status (to my knowledge).
ŸThe foundation may offer membership (and a donation certificate) for donations made, but these members would be non-voting members of the community.
ŸThe organization will need outreach and volunteer opportunities to help in the dinners and other events, to increase its notoriety further.
