Anyone heard of MagicWheels?

Saw an ad in a magazine; I'd never heard of them before. I use e-motions. They let me get around a lot easier, but overall they are poorly designed. The battery runs out too fast, they're too heavy, and just aren't that reliable in general.

If you use e-motions, you already know this, but has anyone tried these MagicWheels? (www.magicwheels.com)

Magicwheels still requires your strength to move. Where as the emotion just need a little of your strength.

Low Quad, High paras I bet would be ideal target users, or any down on strength person.

magic wheels

The sales rep for the company brought a pair to our store. We all tried it, and it seems to work well. It has two gears and is certainly easier to propel up hill in the low gear.

However they seem to be very expensive, about the same as the emotion wheels.

We have had the same experience as you with emotion. The batteries are expensive and unreliable.

I got to try out a pair, they work pretty well. When you're in the regular mode(1:1) it's like pushing a regular wheel. The hill climbing mode is nice, especially when you let go of the wheel/pushrim, and it rolls back an inch and locks saving you from careening backwards down an incline. I'd agree w/ Patonb, you still need some strength to move. I like the fact that MagicWheels & Wijits rely on mechanical means rather than power so you're never stuck w/ a dead battery. 2 negative aspects: expensive and I think they look fugly.

I got to try out a pair for the first time today. When the gear reduction system is not engaged, it feels like you are pushing a seven spoke composite wheel with a grey everyday tire with a slight amount of drag. Changing to the 2:1 ratio definitely makes inclines easier. It is a technologically advanced "grade aid" which will only be worth their high price if your routinely encountering significant inclines. They do work better on ramps than e-motion wheels

I have had them for about a year now and have never had a problem. I got them so I could get up the ramp on my van. The hill stops have never failed me. My only problem is that I have solid inserts in my tires so they push hard when not in gear. Another nice thing is if you put them in gear going downhill, they slow you up and make it really easy to stop. It also makes it easy to pop wheelies to jump curbs. Check with your insurance, my paid for my wheels.
