Botox injections for back pain
I've only found a few posts specifically dealing with this. Most posts here seem to be more about botox and bladder, so I was wondering if anyone has used botox for back pain and if you'd mind sharing your experience with me be it positive, negative or neutral. Thanks!!

Unless your back pain is due to muscle spasm, I would not think this would be helpful, as Botox does not effect sensory nerves. Keep in mind that a flaccid paralysis in your back muscles from Botox injections could also affect your sitting balance and trunk stability.
I would want to speak to at least 3 other people with SCI who have had this procedure done for this purpose by the same physician proposing this for you before I would consider it. (KLD) |

Thank you KLD
![]() His pain is from muscle spasm, so what you said about that is promising, but I also have the concern you expressed about the balance and stability. I suppose if one were to take an injection and have trouble with those things, that after a few months the effects would wear off completely? She said the injection would only last 3 months or so, so we assumed she meant "completely" wear off, but we probably should have asked specifically. Or could there be any permanent "damage"? Thanks! Carol
