who coats hand rims, and which is toughest

I finally got my off-road wheels but the folks who got them for me didn't get the hand rims coated--as asked.

I want to send the rims off to get them coated, any ideas...

Do you want to do a power coat to the handrims?

Look in your phone book for who does power coating. I took mine and they did them any color and texture that I wanted.

rubber or plastic coated, so the rim is a little thicker and I get a better grip...

www.PushBlack.com produces a neoprene rubber coated hand-rim that is very durable and has great grip. www.Sportaid.com also offers plastic or foam covered hand-rims.

Best of luck,
Matt

StevieP,
Have you tried or are your powder coated hand-rims coated with the vinyl powder coating? It's said to be as strong and long lasting but have a better grip. I've made a few inquires but I have not been able to find out if this is true.

Matt

no such thing. powdercoating is an electrostatic process. vinyl handrim coatings are just dipped.

i use vinyl-coated handrims, and they hold up fine.

em - just make your vendor exchange the handrims. don't send the full wheelset out.

I've been working with Polyone on the coating. They feel the strength is there but the grip issue is debatable. Weather conditions, temp excetra.....

I think it would be a great product but it costs big $$$$$$$ to get samples made. I hoped you had run into a company that may have used this coating.

Thanks,
Matt
