Quickie Groove
I just recently acquired a Quickie Groove.
I do have a Quickie P200 that I had for 10 years, excellent chair. The only problem I had on that chair was the fuse holder for the charger, and had dry rotted so I put an in-line fuse on it, and I had to replace a set tires on the back. Now that I have a Groove, I was wondering if anybody else has one? it is an 11/2 inches wider on the tires and just about 2 inches longer. The P200 is actually a manual chair with the power conversion, but it was an awesome chair. My Groove as a power tilt and power leg rests, also have a MaTRx-PB Posture Back which is real comfortable. If anyone else has one please let me know! Cripp |

when I got this charity had what they called a "perfect fit" seating system which is a brand-new system from quickie. After trying it out for a couple weeks, there is nothing perfect about it. Just to adjust the armrests he had a breakout a couple allen wrenches it was just real uncomfortable. I had been talking with the wheelchair company that I got it from. And that's been to switch to new seeding system with the older style, more traditional. After several days of debating with quickie they do not offer elevating leg rests with the older style seats anymore, because they're trying to get people to use their new seeding system. So I asked them if they could just give that one back and give me an Invacare TDX5 and they said that probably a good idea. So I should know here that next week or two. I know others here have used the Invacare TDX chairs. As you can see in my first post as to what I have now. I would like some info on that chair, and if it would be a good idea to do that.
Thanks everybody. Cripp |

I did one Groove with PerfectFit power tilt and discovered the same issue with adjusting the armrests. The one I spec'd had the regular swingaway front riggings and I could not believe they would develop a new powerchair which was so long that it was difficult to maneuver in a hospital. I got the hangars tucked back another inch by notching the vertical lip that runs along each side of the seat pan. I feel that the P222SE and S646SE with tilt only are probably Quickie's best powerchairs.
The TDX5 is a nice powerchair, but the TDX SP has a better suspension and will soon offer gearless brushless motors. Invacare's power elevating swingaway legrests are poorly designed and they have nearly every chair I know of has had to have them repaired, replaced, or removed. While it initially looked promising, the Motion Concepts power center mount legrest on the TDX SP is a disaster. I have always avoided the TDX5's power elevating center mount legrests because of the footplate design which was too narrow and had to many sharp hard corners. After nearly 3 years of complaining, they finally offered a better one piece footboard which is wider and has softer edges. ![]() Just in my own experience, the GB motors seem to fail much more than the four pole motors. If you get a good set, however, you'll only find a few chairs which are faster, and no other chair which is as quiet. |

I'm getting a Quickie Groove w/Amy Systems tilt/recline/legs...
It was this or a Ranger X, I've had 1 Invacare and 1 Quantum 650 HD, so I opted for the 8.5mph Groove vs 6.5mph Ranger X and I'm interested to see how the Delphi electronics are. I also went for the optional suspension upgrade...we'll see, should be ready in about a month! |

I been looking at Quickie Groove as I like controller with big buttons on a brochure I downloaded.
I dont know whether to go for RWD or FWD. The front wheels on RWD seem smaller than the castors on back of FWD and I have to go over bumpy ground daily. I'm worried about reports of 'fishtailing' on FWD chairs though as I have never owned one. I looked at Balders but they dont go over 4mph and no way I'm spending over £10,000 on a chair that cant even go as fast as the cheap one I got off internet! Permobil looks good but again charge ridiculous amounts for their chairs. I'm looking for one around the £6,000 mark that will be comfy to sit in all day, recline for back resting back, be able to manage in tighter spaces but also getting over gravel and grass. NHS only supply Invacare chairs over here, but I heard scary stories about man who died when his chair caught fire and he was unable to get out of it, it was an invacare. The Storm looks chunky enough to handle outdoors but too big around my bungalow when I'm stuck in same chair all day and need to rest in it too. Have you seen the new Quickie Salsa? http://www.sunrisemedical.co.uk/prod...bmLocale=en_GB |

I have never had problems with rear casters.
Front wheel drive is superior to rear wheel as front casters are always bumping into something and changing directions. Leading with large front tires is much better plus they climb better.

Thanks. I might try find dealer who can bring FWD groove for me to try out.
If I can get through a swing gate on quantum vibe with footrests removed will I be able to get through it on Quickie Groove FWD? Also indoors my lounge door and bedroom door are kinda at right angle so impossible to turn straight into lounge from bedroom and visa versa with vibe chair. I have to go into hall spin chair around and line it up with other door or go through bathroom door opposite lounge and double doors into bedroom as they are wider. I use this method if need to get chair into back garden (back door is also fire door in bedroom!) Somone mentioned groove was longer? whats measurement without footplate/footrests? Thanks Kati |
