Post What good is Life ?

Lots of talk about this here on the forum; what good is Life? I found the concept presented here very impressive:

The Five People You Meet in Heaven
By Mitch Albom

"Everyone has an idea of heaven, as do most religions, and they should all be respected. The version represented here is only a guess, a wish, in some ways, that my uncle, and others like him—people who felt unimportant here on earth—realize, finally, how much they mattered and how they were loved."

I saw the movie first, and now the book at:

Another amazingly profound book is "Man's Search For Meaning" by Viktor Frankl. He was a holocaust survivor and writes on the methods of finding meaning and purpose in all life's circumstances, including intolerable suffering. Highly recommended...

Two selections that I keep close and browse often are:
"Happiness is a Serious Problem" by Dennis Prager and
"Turn my Mourning into Dancing" by Henri Nouwen

A quote from each...
"Happiness can be attained under virtually any circumstances providing you believe that your life has meaning and purpose."

"We can ultimately find a healing that lets our wounded spirits dance again, that lets them dance unafraid of suffering and even death because we learn to live with lasting hope."

Also, for me, to put on my headphones, pour one glass of a good wine and listen to Daniel Barenboim playing Beethoven's piano sonatas can remind me of the big deep meaning in life.

Great book, I try and read every year or two to keep me grounded and head on my shoulders.

I really like the book too. The movie was somewhat disappointing, but good nonetheless. I thought they did a really good job of showing Eddie's heaven, which the book couldn't really do.

I should probably reread it too CLJ.
