Please Read!
This affects my life very much! AND ALL disabled in fl!! i live in florida. When i was first injured a little over a year ago, i was put on ssi and medicaid....which..thank god paid most of my medical bills.
After i was declaired disabled....duh im a para, they put me on ssid. which gave me a couple hundred more dollars a month. In turn, they also said my income was ineligable for medicaid??wtf? and that i would be put on a share of cost(medicaly needy) program. My share of cost is like 840.00.!!my catheders alone are 1200.00 a month.(bard catheder kits)NEEDED!...that is the major of but just part of my NEEDED PRESCRIPTIONS...... SO.....i kinda found a way around it for a while. I was having the catheder company in ga. , bill medicaid as early in the month as possable....which meets my share of cost and....turn on my medicaid as NORMAl"...thing is medicaid share of cost has ten days to get back to the catheder supply company.....which in turn leaves my medicaid for the majority of the month. THIS SYSTEM IS SO REDICULOUS....especialy for a lifetime"(lets hope not)disabuility. Now today i called my catheter supply company...who said they faxed the bill to medicaid....then call medicaid...wait forever. To be told, yes .they recieved an invoice(order) on the 4th....but now they need a "shipped" invoice.....new to me...and the catheter company. So i call the catheter copmpany back...tell them the deal....beg them to call my inside direct number to a medicaid worker(that took forever to obtain,,,but i do this EVERY month)...they do. Luckily they Are willing to ship them off...then wait to see if they get paid. if not ...i pay....more than i already have/do. Anyway...yea im ranting...im in pain...,,,and yea i have a script for 90 percs that i paid 60 dollars out of pocket to my dr. write(oh yea they, nor anyy pain management clinic accept the "share of cost program)....that i cant get filled cause my medicaid isnt "on" yet. Thank god i paid ony 16.00 bucks to get my valium script filled or, i might do something very hectic. Im not really into signing letters....but i did this one., Please do it as well Thanks your resident patient...Baron http://wexler.house.gov/news.php?ID=201 p.s. bush sucks.......ALL of em |

i'm confused. ssi and ssdi are federal programs. ssdi is dependent on work history. ssi is basically for those with no, or not enough, work history and income dependent. medicaid is a state and federal program and income dependent. so, if you say your ssdi is couple hundred higher than ssi, do you have a significant work history? you look kind of young. gotta watch ssa. they screw up a lot. oops, never remember to check profiles, just checked yours. so i assume at your age you've worked a few yrs. so you're on ssdi but this income means you don't qualify for whatever florida's version of medicaid is, correct?

Yea i screen printed t shirts...mostly...for like 12 years. Hay....what does remind me not to look at profiles mean ..lol
Anyway...Yea i qualify......once my catheters get billed and shiped through medicaid, Like halfway...3/4 the month through. It,s rediculous i would be considered disabled the have the only medical taken away! Florida is one of the few states that has"independantly needy program, its retarded and everyone says so even at the s.s. office and dept of children and families......untill the one stern woman gets on.....and says..Sorry there is nothing we can do. Yes my only income is ssid.......yes this whack |

Isn't social security grand
whether your in Fla or not. I had the same crap. When I got my SSDI I made 5o.oo too much to qualify for Medicade and in order for me to qualify for Medicade I have to spend $8,000.00 every 6 mo. in doc. bills OR spend overnight in a hospital. WTF? Is the Government nuts? This was just as bad as Independant Living wanting me to show them $600.00 a mo. in paid med. recipts before they would build me a ramp.If we could all spend that kind of money we wouldn't need their friggin help....... I think the Government needs to stop waisten their time on bullshit like steroid use in baseball players or some meaningless thing like that and start taking care of our low - income, disabled, veterans, seniors, and under privelaged, etc.... JMHO

i meant i never remember to look at profiles before i ask dumb questions, like your age! in your avatar, you look very young. your profile clearly states your age.
anyway, that's the thing i really hate about health ins. in this country. it varies by state. one reason a lot of sci's used to move to california was MediCal (ca's medicaid). another reason i keep working in all this pain is my employer supplied health insurance. altho, since so many private ins. companies are now following medicare guidelines (e.g. the "5 yr rule" for new wheelchair no longer applies in my case), it is becoming less and less clear why i continue. |

How the hell do ya do that?? oh yea...ive heard of people being on medicaid and medicare at the same time. how is this done. Is there an age requirement? Any one know bout that? quote: if we had all that money we wouldnt need there help. how freakin true....its not even money to THEM....its just a far less valued group of numbers floating in the air to them!....to us! Really dont know what to do???Guess i need to say "i fell" so they will admit me to the e.r. and then "i think im gonna freakin rip my throat out. to get admited into(hiphiphorray)the hospital........stay for at least three days.....then medicaid will pay for my needed supplies........maybe,,,.guess thats what "They Want". WONDERFUL........Are these people fuckin stupid?.....and no,,,thats not what i said to my last dr.It was much more polite. SO....yea....if ya have the time ,,sign, and read the bill on the first thread please. Any one else have this problem in fl.?? thanks for any help or knowledge peaceloveswar_Baron |

no, i meant flaming by others for mentioning hillary! nothin to do with canada.
as far as NASA, you may have no idea how much your life has benefitted from their research. and how little tax dollars per benefit most people have seen. in fact, we probably wouldn't even have this discussion in this manner w/o them. http://spaceplace.jpl.nasa.gov/en/kids/spinoffs2.shtml http://www.nasa.gov/audience/foreduc...s_at_Home.html http://www.sti.nasa.gov/tto/ http://www.thespaceplace.com/nasa/spinoffs.html Last edited by cass; 04-11-2007 at 01:20 AM. |
