My bladder at night I can't even tell when it goes. I have to wear a depend's and put a shuck under me. I can feel during the day when I need to go, I just can't hold it but a few seconds.
But at night I'm just like a baby

Hi Brian,

You should post this in the care forum as they have professional sci nurses who field medical sci questions with knowledgable answers, and who also deploy excellence in the field of compassion.

Or a mod could move it for ya.

Brian when mine started coming back I leaked all the time, so I wore an external cath. Then I started to be able to hold it for a while. The first time out without it was a scary day. Fast forward to today. I can hold about 200cc before the urge, but when it hits, get out of my way or I might pee on you. Every so often I wake up wet. But for the most part the urge wakes me up or I realize that I have to when I wake up to take my meds.

Chances are that this is increased spasticity in your bladder. If the problem is at night only, do you cut back on fluids after dinner? If you don't you might try that--just sips after supper. If you're already cutting back after dinner, there is a drug vasopressin, which is really a natural hormone, that you can take (by nasal inhalation) right before bed. That would cut down on the amount of urine you make at night and might help with the problem.

You ask, could your bladder function be coming back? The crucial issue is do you feel the need to pee before your leak? Even with intact sensation, you might not be able to safely pee on your own. Bladders change over time and get more twitchy and less twitchy in different situations. Might you have a urinary tract infection? That could cause a sudden change in leaking. Your best bet is to check in (in person) with a doctor or nurse familiar with SCI.
