I'm not a pro but from what people tell me, you get your ssdi based on how much you payed into the system before you got hurt. Even if the cost of living may go up, i'm not entirely sure your ssdi also goes up.

no it will remain the same , ssdi is factored by how much you paid into it, not where you live. there is a raise every year for cola

Some states supplement SSI but I have never heard of SSDI being suplemented. It's an interesting question.

moving should not affect your SSDI amount as it is based on work credits. however, SSDI can be decreased based on state disability you may qualify for:
How Do We Figure Your Payment Amount? We base your SSDI payment amount on the worker's lifetime average earnings covered by Social Security. The amount is adjusted each year to account for cost-of-living changes. We may reduce the amount if you receive Workers' Compensation payments (including Black Lung payments) and/or public disability benefits, for example, certain State and civil service disability benefits. Other income or resources do not affect the payment amount. source: http://www.ssa.gov/redbook/eng/page22.htm |
