Vitamin B12 injections?

Has anyone tried injecting Vitamin B12 into their legs? My cousin
has done this for years to help his nerves and when he stops the
injections, it severely affects his mobility.

I have thought about trying it because I have a lower motor neuron
injury, along with a spinal cord injury.

Not injecting. Seems I'm anemic but not from lack of ferrous iron. So besides the One A Day's for Women that I was pretty bad about taking before I just added extra B12 and Vitamin D. Haven't found Folate yet as a supplement. Seems I just don't make enough red blood cells and I get sores near the corner of my mouth that dentists remind me to get enough B vitamins.. Both are signs of B12 defiency and then add my finger tips feeling numby again. Last time my fingers got that way was from Macrobid use as a prophylactic. Anyhoo..B12 helps nerve cells too and a supplement is 8,333% of the RDA. It also comes in time release now for those of us who just may not absorb it well. Oh, and vitamin C also helps you absorb B12.

Nurses? Anything else those of us who don't absorb or get enough B12 can do? Most of the foods suggested clog arteries except maybe oysters.

Hey Buck - I've been injecting B12 for the past two months now.

Mostly I wanted to help my energy levels (because of hypothyroidism) and YES, that has improved. Anemic as well - but for different reasons than the above. Some people use it for weight loss and if that's a side effect, then it's more than welcome to come visit me .. lol.

I've been injecting it into my legs for this whole time too. Haven't noticed anything with nerves.

You might want to try the B Complex & C vitamins. It has all the B vitamins in high doses and is supposed to help "brain power" also.
About $7.00 for a small bottle. It gives me more energy and I take it with a MVI. (don't know about the brain power part)

Thanks Lynnifer. If it hasn't helped your legs, i'm sure it won't help mine.

Thanks Nurse and Sue.

I have been doing B12 injections for years and it seems to provide some minor relief from pain. The injections are done once a week in my home and I have never had any problems. I don't see any harm in trying but you should consult with your doctor before experimenting with B12 injections.

Good luck!
