Okay, I called the principal of the school and had to leave a voicemail as he is out for Xmas till the 2nd of January. I also called the Sheriff's office and talked to the Major (super nice guy) and he was disappointed to say the least. He took notes of our convo. and would pass along to the Sgt. covering that area. The Sgt. is out for Xmas too. I feel as something will be done and asked the Major to keep me in the loop.

Dave, if I don't get feedback, I will def. go in person. Yes, the Sheriff's are elected here. I will give them a chance to attend to this before I write a letter.

I think this will classify as too close.

Do you check to be sure that the people weren't forced to park close to the line on your side because someone on the other side parked too close to that line? I can't imagine being so indifferent to the rights of others (ownership, personal property) while simultaneously bemoaning the lack of enforcement of my own rights (parking, access to goods and services).

I suggest you read Bookjunky's post again. It was never stated that someone parked close to a line. The parker in question was over the line. As long a vehicle is within the line, no matter how close to the line, it is legally parked. I say, park over the line, and suffer the consequences for your sloppy parking skills.

I was at the tag office yesterday and a truck was parked on his right line in a regular spot which forced me to park over to the right also. I was just on my line in a van accessible spot and not in the white stripes. It's possible to still park correctly if that person is not over a couple of feet. If they are and I can't park correctly, I go and find somewhere else.

I agree with SoFla... park sloppy and you deserve what you get..

I don't agree that a momentary mistake makes one deserving of the destruction of one's property. I'm as angry as the next gimp, but I don't get the nasty attitude that gets directed at able-bodied people around here.

Your reading skills need improving. There is no attitude towards the able-bodied. It's an attitude toward sloppy parkers. And there are no momentary mistakes when parking. Sloppy parking causes a domino effect that creates chaos in a parking lot for everyone.

Unfortunately I think she needs to pay up and chalk this up to bad judgement and a learning experience.

since when? about 2 years ago someone with hc placard parked completely in the grid next to me as if it was a hc spot, the cop I found said he couldn't give them a ticket b/c he had the placard. If I hadn't met my brother there, who backed up my minivan so I could get in, I would have been stuck!

Neither have I since mine got smashed when I rear-ended an elderly couple in a minivan on the freeway onramp who slammed on their brakes when they saw a stop sign...for the freakin bus turnout next to us. $8,000 in damages to me but at least the cops ruled in my favor!

Maybe if you read more than one thread and listened to the overall attitude of many around here, then you wouldn't be making swipes at me over this non-existent problem on my part. Seriously, you could find all kinds of things to take jabs at me about, but my reading and writing skills? Um... no.

You've missed it apparently.

At least you acknowledge that there is 'tude.

And that justifies intentional damage to another person's property? Sorry, I wasn't raised that way.

Since just about always....it is printed on the materials you get with your placard/plates from the state, and also on the DMV website. I had a friend with a handicapped plate ticketed for this 10 years ago in San Diego. The cop was dead wrong:

Are there any limitations of parking privileges?

Yes, you cannot park:

-In spaces marked with a crosshatched pattern next to a parking space with the International Symbol of Access (wheelchair symbol). These spaces are for wheelchair and wheelchair lift access.
-Next to red curbs, which indicate no stopping, standing, or parking.
-Next to yellow curbs, which are for commercial vehicles to load and unload passengers or freight.
-Next to white curbs, which are for loading and unloading passengers or depositing mail in an adjacent mailbox.
