Stress/depression question
I am wondering whether stress/depression can lead to short term memory loss? I am beginning to think that in the past month, I may have been depressed and know that my stress level has been elevated and during that time had trouble with memory for a week or two.
Also, does alcohol help to lower stress/blood pressure? I used to have a beer a night but have stopped since my baby boy has been born and am wondering whether if I began having a beer a night would help with higher BP. Thanks |

Hey, Sebastian. Depression can cause problems with memory and concentration as can extreme stress. It can be hard to remain focused when you are feeling down and are feeling the squeeze from any source.
I know of people who have a glass of wine before bed without any apparent ill effects. It seems the same would old true for beer. Hope you feel less depressed and less stressed soon. Here's to better days. Salut! |

Oh most definitely both can cause short term memory loss. A beer at night helps me sometime too. I used to like wine, but something about my taste buds has changed with age, and I can't stand it now--any of it. I used to love it.
If the stress and depression keeps up though, you may want to consider talking to your doctor about it. Better days for you I hope!

Sebastian-
Both issues can cause short term memory loss. You might want to try writing things down during this stressful time. (That only works if you go back to the list-) A beer or glass of wine at night works for some people. If this goes on, I would talk to your doctor. THere are medications that can help over the short term. I would also suggest that you find someone you can talk to- it could be a friend, family member or a professional. CKF |

My post will probably be deleted, but I find moderate use of sativa cookies as effective as alcohol for relieving stress/depression. Moderation is the key.
Of course the best solution is to find a coping strategy for stress that comes from within. |
