Consoritum for Spinal Cord Medicine Booklets
I have been asked to provide the marketing and fund raising program for the Consoritum for Spinal Cord Medicine with some "testimonials" from SCI consumers about your use of the consumer booklets that they produce based on the Clinical Practice Guidelines developed for SCI. These are available on-line at the PVA Store at www.pva.org
I know that many of you have downloaded these materials (either the professional versions or consumer versions, or both) and used them when advocating for your needs with providers, or for improving your own knowledge of how to maintain your health. If anyone would be willing to share there experiences, that would be great. The Consortium would like information about how these materials have impacted your care and health, and why you think they are important. Please either send me a Private Message here or write to SCINurse@spinalinjury.net I would need your permission in the message to use your real name, and to quote from your message for the Consortium's fund raising and marketing materials. Thanks (KLD) |

Thanks, Marmalady.
The Consortium for Spinal Cord Medicine's work is supported primary by the PVA, but their donations are not sufficient for all the work that is needed. In the planning stages, and needing further funding are SCI care guidelines for upper extremity management, sexuality, bladder management, pain management, management during the acute phase, respiratory care and psychosocial issues. More topics will be identified by the steering committee for the future, and other older guideslines need updating and revision. Health care professional panel members, the steering committee and reviewers do this work on a volunteer basis, but there are administrative and staff costs, as well as the costs of formating, art work, printing and some legal costs and marketing costs. The Consortium finds it difficult to recruit corporate and foundation donors for development and publishing of future guidelines without these types of testimonials from people with SCI and their families or caregivers. This is the purpose of this request. (KLD) |
