Question for Dr Wise?
I am 17 years post T12 through L2 fracture. I walk with AFO's and a cane. I have never used a chair just a scooter for long distances for the past 3 years. When I stood up for the first time in 1989, I had no pressure sensation at all. Fast forward to now, my feet have a novacaine feeling. Over the years I got back pressure and now I can feel even if something brushes against a toe. I cannot feel pain but I can feel something touching. I have had no atrophy in my lower muscles that is overly noticable. My feet still look the same they just dont work. I also have jerky occasional muscle movements but nothing really painful. I also have the burning/tingling sensation like when your leg goes to sleep.
My question is what causes the atrophy and why would I not have some in my feet? I think in the other forum I kind of established that I am a complete because I dont have anal tone. I can feel pressure/push but dont have control to squeeze together. Bladder is the same way, I can empty out completely, I just cant hold it in.
