My first chair was a Quickie 2. The measurements were fine - I was still using it eight years on - but it was kind of a bear.

Mine was horrible. I would've never dreamed someone would rip me off, I didn't know other chairs existed & took for granted I really was getting "top of the line". HA! I voted dinosauer only b/c I later found out it was something good about 10 yrs. b4 I purchased it! It ended up being some "inbred" model, wasn't a good fit, nothing ever really worked & I lost most of the options I payed for b/c they weren't compatible with driving(pc), then it's just plain ugly. Well, I still have it but will FINALLY kick it to the curb when I get my new one this week!
![]() I remember also being fitted for a Quickie manual & thinking how ugly, inpractical & uncomfy it was. I'm so glad I didn't waste money on it too.

Yes but 2rd chair was perfect
My first chair was a quickie conservative. My second chair was a Colours adjustable and I grew right into it.

Five chairs over the course of 25yrs ... finally in one I like, the Quickie GTi. Wish titanium chairs had been around when I was young! They were still making the transition from E&J to Quickies ... jeezus.

At 16yrs old and probably only 120 pounds, I was prescribed a 16 inch wide chair with a 4 inch high profile roho. I was told it was for room to grow and heavy clothing. The incorrect set up lead me to nevr sit straight and develop scolioisis that i've been fighting evr since. Been in a 14 inch wide chair since that first one, but the damage was already done.
Can't believe 18 yrs later the same mistakes are still being made by OTs and PTs. These mistakes are serious impacting people's lives. |

like this thread , interesting. I was discharged last February 7 months ago with a GPv 20" x 19" 80 deg front. 2 months ago after ripping lots of door frames to shreds and the inside of my nice new Motability car the good old NHS remeasured me when I said I " felt like I'd been dumped in a wheelie bin arse first".
Now have a nice new Quickie Argon (which type I had in the hospital) 17 x 17 and 90 deg front now the chair fits me rather than rattling around in it and having a really sore back and bum. Also just got a brand new TiLite ZRa Series 2 same dimensions but with 25" spinergy's through Access to Work so this better be the right sizing as I'll be in these for a while!

As to the question… My first chair was a quickie two HP. It was too big at 13 years old but it was just right at 16. I doubt it was from a forward thinking DME. More likely, it falls under the category of "a broken clock is right twice a day." Got another at 18 years old. It was a trooper for a long time. Probably still rolling. I hope it did not end up in the hands of some one who could not maintain it. First chair in adulthood sucks. The final chair does not look like the cad drawing at all. I really pull the punch. They should be ashamed to call my chair a TI. Maybe one day I will publish the cad and the photos but I'm almost out of the woods and when it's done, I will never think of them again. I had the double whammy of a bad chair and a shoulder injury. Shoulder injury is a faded memory and soon this chair will fade with it. I wanted it to be my chair for life. I think my next one will be because I know the terrain, the right questions, the opponents, the friends and the deep knowledge of allies in this forum. If the Q7 works out, I won't become a quickie fan boy. I just want to leave the war zone of a bad wheelchair. |

When I was injured EVERYONE's first chair sucked because there was only really one model available to everyone. Chrome, heavy, and with Naugahyde (plastic, hot) upholstery. Full arms or desk was about it for "customization."
