I know of 6 ppl with knees replacement....none lost a leg.

One fella is in his 70's, had bad leg (veins, arteries, etc.) and
this knee took a little longer to heal due to the more complex
surgery but he's walkin' like gangbusters now since he got the
other one done couple months ago. Of course, he now says,
"Sure wish I'd had this done sooner!" MEN (sigh)

Not unless they got a rare major infection or something.

Today I went to the DR. about my knee replacement and he explained that if I got a bad infection and it got into my blood they might have to cut off my leg just above the knee so right now I'm at high rissk , but he said I probably will need one in the near future , if the first DR. explained it like that I wouldn't of even gone to get another appointment , Finally I got some good news .LBUSH

The doctors pretty much have to tell you all of the risks involved. I am sure it has happened but I have never seen someone lose their leg after a knee replacement. If infection develops though you are talking about a headache from hell trying to deal with it.
