Do you carry a urinal
Saturday is our first real day out. Obviously we will bring caths and the urinal, but do you all really carry that big ol urinal around?? I guess options are limited since the damn caths don't reach to the toilet. Is there a discreet urinal?

i have a small black bag with wipes (being a chick and all), a small bottle of hand sanitizer, caths and a male urinal. you could use a water bottle or something like that, but make sure it will accomodate a typical amount he has when he goes.
i was gonna say, or you could pinch the cath and empty it and keep going but i forgot he's a guy and the cath goes practically all the way in.

try cathing into a ziplok bag (at home first) to see if that could work - that way you can just empty it out into the toilet and then throw the bag away. no need for the urinal. I have to admit I haven't tried that myself, but have heard of others who have - successfully.

![]() Thanks Cali. Ya, it goes almost entirely in. He carry the same thing, wipes, hand sanitizer and the big 'ol urinal. The water bottle would be more discreet. We used it before hee at home but I never thought of bringing it on the road We have been out quite a bit, but this is like an hour away.

Chopperchick, I would try the gallon size baggies. You can even get the ones that stand up and double ply if needed. My uncle had prostate surgery and cant hold his urine. He uses these and seals them up and tosses them in the garbage. Sounds nasty but so is a toting a urinal. My daughter can tell you of some misadventures they had on a vacation through Washington DC.........

Catheter extensions or adapt one as suggested.
Much easier to carry around. CWO |

This urinal works great. The latex collection bag folds away inside the funnel to the size of a Dixie Cup.

Chopperchick-
I never carry a urinal. They start to smell if you aren't able to rinse them after every use. It is kind of embarassing to be rinsing a urinal out in a public bathroom especially if little kids are around. They stare like your an alien. I use 26" extension tube I bought online at AllegroMedical. They work great, just cath right into the toilet. I slip the cath back into the bag it came in and throw the entire thing in the garbage. I never reuse my caths as it causes to many problem's such as u.t.i.'s. As for the extension tube I just close the ends together so you don't get any odor's and put it in the pouch underneath my cushion. I rinse the tube the next day with warm soapy water. I bought a dozen and still have them. I change the tube about once a month. Here's the link to the 26" extension tubing. Feel free to ask if you have anymore questions. -Ed- http://www.allegromedical.com/produc...or/192467.html
