Question Is anyone else haunted by their dreams?

Believe me I've excepted and moved on (29 years ago). But the NIGHTLY dreams that I can remember or pre sci. And 90% of the time I'm standing. I think I need to workout harder or read at night It's not haunting but it's like I'm stuck in 1977. I was only 20. It's weird. And no FreeBird doesn't need a Shrink

Be thankful in your dreams you don't have Ex's chasing you and wanting to cut off your privates.

Yes! In my dreams, I am completely normal. I walk, run, swim, drive, and there are no impairments. I have NEVER dreamed about the cancer, the SCI, the wheelchair, or any other part of my waking nightmares.

Lately, I have been dreaming about my much-younger self. One night, I dreamed that my dad and I were standing in my old high school), and there was a graduation ceremony getting ready to start. I said to my dad, "Well, 1 down, 4 to go!" (There were five of us girls, and I am the oldest.) He looked at me like I was crazy and replied, "You're pushing 40; it's your son that's graduating!" (Our oldest son did just finish school -- he didn't graduate, because he thought that the intelligent thing to do was to quit school in March of his senior year; but he did get his GED.)

By the end of the day, I have lots of miscellaneous aches and pains, and I really look forward to drifting off into dreamland where there's no pain and I am completely healthy.

While it's normal to see yourself still in pre-SCI condition, my worst dreams involve the complete re-enactment of my accident, all the way down to the sound of my neck cracking as I crashed into the sandbar at the beach. I remember being put on those LifeFlights (helicopter ambulances) and being told not to worry, you'll be back up and running in a few days. I was so relieved hearing those until the doctors at the hospital straightened me out by delivering the bad news a day later.

It is the most terrifying and horrific dream I continue to have. As much as I'd like to say I have moved on, I have not. Physically, I have but emotionally I have not. I still carry the same level of anger with me today as 17 years ago, yet, in a bizarre way, I gain strength and energy from all that anger.

Do I sound like a candidate for Dr. Phil?

The nice dreams that haunt me are all pre SCI. And my accident haunts me regularly like a slow motion video clip. But that's not be a dream, more like a nightmare.

No, not at all. My anger and frustration are what give me strength and will power.

When I dreAM it us usually post-SCI and I am using a wheelchair. But it is more of a medical "order" than need, and I keep standing up to reach things, or walking b/c it is too much trouble to wheel It is kind of like when you sprain your ankle, and you are SUPPOSED to stay off of it so it will heal, but you keep getting up and hobbling around because the crutches are too much trouble?

Now when I was in the hospital I had dreams of Halloween decorated gingerbread men cookies getting off the pan and trying to push me down an open door to the basement, stairs missing, to kill me. Now THAT was haunting!!

Lately for the past week or so, I've been having dreams every night. So soothing.
