Neural Stem Cells Can Develop Into Functional Neurons

Researchers have found that neural stem cells isolated from the brains of adult rats can mature into functional neurons. Stem cells, which are found in tissues throughout the body, are immature progenitor cells that give rise to more specialized cells that form tissues and organs.

i'll post the rest later, but isn't this great news.

Did this come out of Florida? I read a headline that said "Florida stem cell
researchers report breakthrough", but I couldn't get the link to come up.

yes steven, i knew you figured it out.

the point i was trying to make, before that kanucklehead mess it up, was the untold advances. they are far more advanced than is reported here on cc. the big news on dr kerr work is about 2 years old. 2.5 years ago at neurotrama, they were reporting axons growing across the injury in as many as 10,000. today that secret number is vastly higher. dont let the nay sayers take the fight out of you. the cure is almost here.

I agree with you. I think that the research is farther along than any of us know. The research that is reported now is history in the eyes of the researchers. If only we knew which biotech company will hold the key to the cure. We could invest in it and expedite the cure. Then we could take our profits and actually get cured.

Almost only counts in horse shoes & hand grenades. I guess you're forgetting about the wonderful FDA approval. That will take another 10 years. And I would love to see it happen, nothing moves fast if it would do people good.
