So few opinions, I'm disappointed. I thought there were at least a few people here whose grasp of sanity was as tenuous as mine. Perhaps if we included alcohol?

Cherrylips, perhaps we could handcuff ourselves together and generate a little enthusiasm

Your experience with the media and skill getting the message out would be a huge benefit to any action, Betheny. I am comfortable performing the Hunger Strike alone, if need be. I have fasted before. But I'd need people to communicate with the media on my behalf. I think a Hunger Strike performed nation wide, or by a core group of people would be more effective though.

saorsa-

I totally hear you and have been thinking about something more "radical" for awhile now -- I also thought of fasting, but pretty much have a hard time just keeping healthy as is -- fasting could be life-threatening.

Last month -- I was thinking of somehow getting a group together to hold signs in front of Senator Gregg -- New Hampshire senator who has not supported the CRPA -- but is up for reelection this coming fall Would having a bunch of wheelchairs in front of his local office protesting his refusal to support the CRPA and also deny civil rights to people with disabilities -- I believe not supporting the CRPA is the same as opposing it -- and is also a direct assault on our civil rights.
But would any media, pay attention?
Could little protests around the country slowly start a movement?
Is there enough unity in this community to do that?
Is there enough health strength or finances? They would surely test our resolve.
last week or maybe a week ago --CAMR-- released a press release about the one-year anniversary of the House voting on the stem cell enhancement act. Which right now has a lot more support, energy and people behind it -- I couldn't find any articles or press that picked up on the story......

it seems that the media picks up on whatever is the most important gossip or catastrophic of the day. How do we create outrage and positive action? And become more important than Paris Hilton's dog?

I'm not sure -- but im meditating on it.
there's a quote by Jim Morrison. "Whoever controls the media controls the minds of the people"-- I think we need media, but more than just another inspirational story or murderball video.
-- just my two cents

YES. Many.

One in particular, is of how a very small group of mothers went on a hunger strike to force politicians to keep promises and address community needs (low income/minority/immigrant).

See various links to stories.

Maybe we should pick a day, or a week. The senate is recessed till June 5 right now.

I hope Leo doesn't mind me elaborating on his idea. He's thinking of a sign on his chair "Senator Thune-I support S.828." Sitting in Sioux Falls or wherever, by the local news stations. Printing out the info on the CRPA, handing it to people that ask what he's doing.

We COULD all do that. But we also have to get the thing past Enzi in WY, the chairman of the HELP committee, and we don't get much input from WY. Ideas for getting his attention too?

Chaz don't you dare think of fasting LOL!

grrrr edit cuz of fastas keyboard disease.
