What is the Best Way 2 travel 2 Amsterdam?

I will be traveling to the Bavarian Alps next month and would appreciate
advice on how a single T-7 person does it. I am into my 2nd year with this chair & this trip will take some preparation unlike last year's Washington Rally. ..... Wiedersehen.........

Are you going to Amsterdam or to Germany (or both)? Flying is probably the best way for you to get to either place. Not sure how train travel would be from one to the other. I understand that you can get fairly cheap flights between EU countries by booking directly with the airlines that fly only in Europe. I assume you can transfer to cabs for local transportation where there are no accessible buses.

A cruise is fun, but pretty expensive, and you won't find a lot of transatlantic cruises except on Cunard, which has only fair accessiblity. I would recommend flying. We have a couple of Dutch members...perhaps they can help you find out about getting from Amsterdam to Germany. It is pretty easy to get flights from the USA to Amsterdam. I would stick to an American airline like United, American or Continental if possible as they will provide more assistance.

I am going there in May, so will let you know. But I used to live there a long and leggy time ago! A lot of it would not be accessible at all - lots of cobblestones and hump-backed little bridges over the canals. Extremely pretty but I don't know how a wheelchair would cope. Buildings/shops/cafes tend to be on the small side and very old and historic too. But some of the center would be ok I think, the Damrak/Dam Square, and there used to be a big pedestrian shopping street - Kalverstraat I think - which would be ok if it is still there. Also the Museum area and VondelPark would be accessible.
Flights between Amsterdam and Germany - probably KLM or Lufthansa. Trains to northern Germany would not take long, but to Munich a flight would be easier. I am sure that both KLM and Lufthansa are partnered with an american airline so all the bookings could perhaps be made in one go.

Halo,

I will be going with myself so I get to make all the decisions.....har har har

actually part of my family live in the Alps & want me there for my nephew's confirmation. Although it seems overwhelming I look at it as a GREAT ADVENTURE and going the 2005 Rally in DC was very rewarding and gave me the confidence that I can travel anywhere as long as I have my trusty catheders....

I will be going about the 12th of May for about 4 weeks and wanted to know which airline has the comfortable arrangements. I always wanted to get back and visit before my accident yet now I spend so much time in therapy I felt it was time to enjoy my improved health. Thank you for the positive advice.........
