Well, Dogger has NEVER been ok. but I am certain he is holding up, most likely no power. He is in Queensland but about 1000 miles away I think. There is a drought so I am sure he will welcome any rain.

I'm at the other end of the state , so I'm OK [ to Cheesecake] , We do have a number of members closer than me ; Lurch , AnnaBanana , Hotwheels and Louise [ who lives only just up the road from Innisfail ] . One of my friends from hosp/rehab farms paw-paws at Innisfail and another friend lives in Cairns so I'm hoping they are OK . From news reports the area was very lucky regarding injuries etc , last I heard was no deaths and about 35 reported injuries . No looting or civil unrest has been reported . Queensland building regulations for about 30 years have demanded ''cyclone proof'' buildings , so no doubt this helped , though this monster didn't listen to any regulations with winds getting up to nearly 200 MPH . It sounds like the disaster assistance plan was well planned and is going well . A state of emergency was declared in the region before the cyclone hit . Aid and manpower was sent in as soon as danger had passed . Of course the area is now over run with politicians and journalists .

There is now another cyclone [Wati] off the coast of Qld which could hit the region where Lurch and AnnaBanana live . For any that are interested , here is a link to state news in Qld's biggest newspaper which has a number of stories and photos on Larry . Hopefully rain from these cyclones as they break down into rain depressions will be widespread to the large drought affected areas in eastern Australia .

Hope that some of our northern Qld coastal members can give a better appraisal of the situation .

Thank you ,
Dogger
