Shower Bench Pad
I have a shower with a built in tiled shower bench. It measures 4 feet long and is 16 inches wide. I am wondering where I can find a cushion for it or if there is another solution to pad it. Does anyone here have a tiled bench? If so, what kind of cushion do you use on it? Thanks for any suggestions!
Keep hope alive. |

I use a removable padded tub bench, but just off the top of my head maybe waterproff deck chair cushions would work for the amount of time you spend on the bench.

marine supply stores...
have cushions designed for harsh wet environments. The cost is reasonable and the products are not burdened by having "medical equipment" as part of their lot in life.

Does your tile bench have a slant to it? I am building a house right now... We are having a custom shower made with built in bench and was told to have the bench slope back so that I wont feel like I am going to slip forward off... I was thinking I would just put a towel down for padding... Thanks...

You can get a gel pad...you will definetly need something. I have seen some at my local medical supply store...I was thinking of getting one for traveling as it is...Last time i stayed in a hotel, they only had hard plastic seats which are not good on the skin at all. I use a padded seat at home and have not had a problem.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Tara-is the gel pad the size of a regular cushion (square)?I guess I'll just have to try a few things and see what works best.
Annabell-my bench does not slope back. I don't know what level you are but I'm T12/L1 so I have good trunk stability. Even so, it sounds like a good idea to me if I ever redesign something in the future! Good luck with your house-how awesome to be able to start from the ground up and get everything the way you want it! Keep hope alive. |

I believe it is regular cushion size...I have used my roho while traveling but that is kinda awkward and hard to dry.
I am planning a trip to Mexico and will be looking at the gel pads in the next few days...I could let you know the prices/sizes/namebrands at that point if you'd like.... |

Tara,
It would be great if you could let me know what you find! I really like the idea of something small so the shower doesn't look so different. Thanks! Keep hope alive. |

Well I thought the sloping the tile bench was a good idea till the tile guy told me that the water will not be able to run off and that will then make the grout and underneath start to rot... Them contractors always shoot down my good idea's...
Phillis, I think my bench is going to be about 3 1/2 feet long and 16" wide aswell... Do you have plenty of room with yours being 4 feet long? thanks |

Annabell,
I have plenty of room with the 4 feet. My old bench was 2 feet long so 4 feet feels huge! Keep hope alive. |
