Stem Cell therapy for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Hi Everyone,

I hope all those taking treatment the very best of luck - wish it works for you all.

I am writing to ask if anyone has any info on stem cell therapy for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients?

My sister, aged 23, has had RA for 5 years now. The progress of the disease has meant that she is unable to fully straighten either leg from the knee, or either arm from the elbow. As a result, she has been unable to walk for over two years now, and a number of her other joints have also been affected.

I would be grateful if anyone could direct me to more information about treatment options - the doctors are saying that the only option is knee replacement (to solve the problem of her not being able to walk), but that does not solve the problems she has with the rest of her joints.

Thanks,
Vishal.

Hi Maxititer,

I have private messaged you. Not sure if you got it.

I have read your messages with interest.

I would love to hear your opinons on Dr Shroffs treatment. You seem to have a very strong opinion on the matter and would really like to hear what you have to say.

We might have something in common.

Please respond or private message me.

Cheers

Spidergirl I see that you're a senior member but completely denying the almost limitless use of stem cells is a little closed minded. I'm not exactly sure where but I watched a Discovery program on doctors who took the DNA from a frogs eye and added stem cells in a pitri dish and low and behold a frogs eye grew. The real test was to see if could be transplanted, it did and it was successful the frog could see out of both eyes. I recently met a guy at a gym for the disabled who recently came back from China after stem cell surgery. Before going he had a T8 injury and had no control of his abs or back muscles. The day the stem cells were injected he complained to his doctor about how much his abs now hurt. After 4-5 days the pain was gone and I was watching him bounce a 30lb ball from the ground while sitting straight up on a bench to exercise his trunk muscles.....which he could Never do before. Prior to the stem cells he told me he had to use a 16 inch back rest on his wheelchair and now he has switched to a 6 inch backrest. If stem cells didn't work was it just a miracle? You should research about Dr. Shroff because it is really no joke at all.

I was in India on vacation on September 2, 2004 and on the 4th I was sitting on my 4th floor hotel window facing inwards and about to light a cigarette. I was using matches and I as struck the match I lost my balance and fell back and out of the window all the down to the ground 48 feet below. I was so lucky to land a 4x4 foot piece of muddy grass while I was surrounded by concrete. While in the hospital I was hearing stories about stem cells and at first I didn't believe it either but when I got back to Toronto, Canada at rehab, I met another fellow who had just undergone stem cell surgery and he went from basically a total paraplegic state to being able to partially use his legs.

Do the research and then make up your mind.

"If" this is a scam well then Stem Cells are the best Placebo for SCI patients known to man and I'd still pay $15,000 to be able to stand again. I plan to leave in about 6 months for my stem cell surgery and I hope Dr. Shroff is my doctor. The medical community is amazed at her results.

Have you researched at all? You yourself and not just what someone else says. I have come across many people how have gotten stem cell surgery and they have ALL benefitted from the surgery. Actually show me the negative effects of stem cells. Not what they can do but what they do when placed in the correct area. I'm not trying to bash anyones ideals here, but stem cells is not a new science and has been researched for over 20 years and yet good'ol Bush won't allow stem cell research which kind of goes against improving health care. If stem cells work then more people will have less dependance on functions/things they depended on before.

I'm not sure if you know this but the best stem cells to use are found in the embyllical cord connected mother to child during birth and the cord's blood is saved for their stem cells. With a population of OVER 1.5 BILLION PEOPLE I'm sure they might run across a few pregnancies where the mother is willing to give up the embyllical cord. Its most likely that the mother doesn't have the money to keep the cord blood cryogenically frozen for later use.
