Traumatic brain injury resources
Since so many have the double whammy of SCI and TBI, I thought I'd post a few of the resources I've found valuable along the way, as we've travelled these double roads.
In many ways, having a TBI or a family member with TBI is so much harder to deal with than SCI; with SCI you can see the changes; you are in a chair, or see your loved one in a chair. With a TBI, as with all things 'mental', there's nothing to see; it's a confusing and frightening nightmare to try and get through. These resources have helped us and hope they can provide some help - and hope - to others. www.tbichat.org This is a site with chat and message rooms for TBI survivors and caregivers, and has a ton of resources and links. www.tbiguide.com This is an online book written by a doctor who treats TBI. It is an excellent resource guide, with easily readable explanations, and is downloadable free (although the author does ask for donations). www.techconnections.org A site with a lot of adaptive equipment and cognitive aides, and resource books. www.neuroskills.com The top site for the latest news and research regarding TBI. Hope you all can get some use out of all this. _____________ Tough times don't last - tough people do. |
