Caregiving for the complete c5
I'd be interested in hearing what other people are needing and/or getting.
I have an aide for 4hrs/day. She does some laundry, cleaning along w/ personal care and driving me. My wife and kids help me w/ dinner and bed. I know this has alot to do w/insurance and that many folks are dumped on family and friends. I certainly wouldn't give up any aide hours because I'm sure my insurer would make it difficult to get them back. What kind of caretaking do you think would be necessary for a complete c5 to live independently w/out family and friends? Obviously, medical complications, age, weight, equipment and housing would be complicating factors. PS Fuentes, Please resist making me feel like shit for not being able to do everything myself while plowing the back 40 w/ my powerchair and holding down a fulltime job. I already do. |
