Dr. Carlos Lima Speaking in Detroit
Dr. Carlos Lima will be coming to the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM) November 29, 2005 from 11:30-1:00 p.m. to share the results of his promising stem cell transplant surgery for persons with spinal cord injuries.
A neurologist at the Egas Miniz Hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, Dr. Lima has performed his experimental stem cell operation on more than 70 patients worldwide. The procedure involves olfactory ensheathing glia (OEG) cells, extracted from the patient's nose and injected into the spinal cord at the site of injury.
Hear Dr. Lima's lecture and meet spinal cord injury patients who have undergone the procedure. The lecture is free and seating is limited. To reserve your space, please call Carrie Bryant at 313-745-0456.
